Athan Lindsay works with institutions across the nonprofit, public, and corporate sectors to create innovative strategies and solutions for some of our society’s complex community issues. Mr. Lindsay is devoted to finding ways to position communities of color to effectively use their collective resources and philanthropy to build healthy communities. He has an extensive career in the field of philanthropy that has included serving as a Program Director for the Warner Foundation, the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, the National Rural Funders Collaborative and various philanthropic initiatives.
Mr. Lindsay is a community organizer, community philanthropist, and concerned citizen interested in broadening the decision-making process through increasing civic participation to solve complex community problems. Athan continues to work with organizations and individuals to expand their capacity to be more effective in developing learning and strategic plans, bridging the racial divide, and creating assessments to monitor progress, impact, and change.
He is a native of Winston-Salem, NC, and a Davidson College graduate with a B.A. in History.
Mr. Lindsay is a 2000 Fellow of the Southeastern Council of Foundations Hull Leadership and the Association of Black Foundation Executives’ (ABFE) 2006 Emerging Leader in Philanthropy award.
Cori Lindsay has varied experience working on community and economic development projects in rural North Dakota. Her work has included two rural housing projects, providing support for energy and agricultural businesses, and community event and conference organizing. Cori’s greatest strength comes from her organizational abilities, which encourage groups to work more collaboratively and regionally on projects. She has provided critical leadership and vision in organizing a network of farmers markets in northwest ND. She is the past Chair of Northwest Venture Communities, Inc., a grassroots effort in northwest ND that is trying to reduce poverty in the region. She also serves on several other Boards including the Center for Technology and Business and the Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women.
She is a native of Mandan, ND, and a Minnesota State University Moorhead graduate with a B.A. in Economics.
Mrs. Lindsay is the recipient of the Minot YWCA’s Regional Women of the Year Award for 2008.
Athan and Cori formed The Lindsay Group in 2008 to provide contract services to public and private organizations with a focus on community and business development projects and philanthropic initiatives. They strive to help businesses and nonprofits create strategic impact through thoughtful reflection and meaningful action.
